Inspired by Mont Ventoux
This challenge is inspired by the famous Cinglés du Ventoux challenge. Like Mont Ventoux with its three access routes (Bédoin, Malaucène and Sault), Chamrousse also offers three distinct routes from Uriage-les-Bains and Séchilienne.
Frequently Asked Questions
No, participation is completely free. It's a personal challenge we offer simply for the fun and the sporting challenge.
Currently, only Strava integration is supported to validate your ascent. In the future, it will also be possible to upload GPX files directly.
Uriage-les-Bains is the ideal starting point for this challenge. This is where the three official climbs to Chamrousse are calculated from.
You can complete the three climbs in any order you wish. However, it's important to note that the Luitel climb is the most difficult!
The best period is from May to October, when the roads are clear of snow and weather conditions are favorable. Summer (June-August) offers the best conditions, but beware of extreme heat. Spring and autumn are ideal to avoid crowds and extreme temperatures.
This challenge is for experienced cyclists with good physical fitness. We recommend having already completed rides of over 100 km with at least 2,500 m of elevation gain. Specific training over several weeks is advised before attempting the adventure.
Several refueling points are available: Uriage-les-Bains (start), Chamrousse resort center (restaurants and fountains), and Séchilienne in the valley. We recommend bringing enough water (at least 2 bottles) and food, as some sections are isolated.
Safety first! In case of deteriorating weather conditions (thunderstorm, heavy rain, dense fog), don't hesitate to postpone your attempt. The mountain isn't a race and will always be there tomorrow. Check local weather forecasts before setting off and monitor weather changes.
